Sigur Rós

Sigur Rós are Icelandic ambient/post-rock band from Reykjavik, who has been active since 1994. Known for their ethereal sounds, frontman Jónsi Birgisson (He is gay and his right eye is disable. Also, he is vegetarian.)‘s falsetto vocals, and the use of bowed guitar, the band’s music is also noticeable for its incorporation of classical and minimalist aesthentic elements. The band is named after Jónsi’s sister Sigurrós (which means ‘The rose of victory’)

They released total 6 albums.
[Von] (Hope, 1997)
[Ágætis Byrjun] (Good start, 1999)- The first album of major
[()](2002.10.29)
[Takk...] (Thanks, 2005)
[Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust] (We are playing endlessly in the reverberation, 2008)
[Valtari] (Steam roller, 2012)
The vocal of English rock band ,"Radiohead", Thom Yorke introduced Sigur Rós that their music  impacted to our band the most. And Icelandic electronic musician, Bjork acclaimed them like this.
"I'm thankful for god to give us this band,  Sigur rós."

Hopelandic

Sigur Rós's lyrics use Icelandic, English (All Alright), and Hopelandic which is made by vocal nsi Birgisson.  Hopelandic consists of Icelandic mainly. And it arranged meaningless syllables with no order. It is made for only music. It's a big feature of this band.
Hoppipolla

This song is Sigur Rós's the most popular song!
This music video is quite interesting. And it matches to lyrics.

smiling
spinning in circles
holding hands
the world is a blur
except when you're standing
dripping wet
completly soaked
no rubber boots
running inside of us
wants to burst out of the shell
wind in
and the smell of your hair
i hit as hard as i can
with my nose
jumping into a puddle
wearing no boots
completely soaked (dripping wet)
wearing no boots
and i get a nosebleed
but i'll always stand up again

(Hopelandic)

and i get a nosebleed
but i'll always stand up again

-This is a translating English version but I don’t understand what they said.

Glósóli

Maybe, another  feature of this band is attractive image. I love their photos and their music video. Especially, this music video is very impressive to me. I like the scene that children just start to run to the cliff. Please watch this video together.
And I recommend another music video of this band,"Varúð".

Hemia (at Home)

Having toured the world over, in 2006 Sigur Rós return home to play a series of free, unannounced concerts in Iceland. Heima (at home) is a documentary film about this tour.

 Heysátan (From the documentary, Heima)

Sigur Rós perform Heysátan. What a wonderful live concert! T.T

I'm thankful for god to know Sigur rós to me!
